行動は感情に従うように思われているが、実際には行動と感情は同時に働くのである。
意志の力でより直接的に支配されている行動を規制することによって、意志に支配されにくい感情をも規制することが出来る。

だから、快活さを失った時、他人に頼らず自発的に快活さを取り戻す秘訣は、いかにも楽しそうな様子で動き回ったり、喋ったりしながら、すでに快活さを取り戻したように振る舞うことである。
